This page complements the How to Place a Watermark page. That page explains how to use an image as a watermakr, this page tells you how to turn a normal image into one that can be used as a watermark by making it semi-transparent.
- Open OpenOffice.org Draw.
- Insert an image by selecting Insert > Picture > From File.
- Below the Standard Toolbar is the Picture Toolbar. Click in the 1st drop down box and select Watermark.

- The picture should now be semi-transparent.

- Now we want to export this picture. Make sure it is selected, you can tell because it should have green handles on it like in the previous picture, and select File > Export. When the export dialog opens, use the File Forma drop down box to select a graphic format. You should probably select whatever the original format of the image was or just select .jpg or .png.
- Now, you can insert the drawing into Writer.
