Vote for an Issue

Issuezilla (IZ) can be one of the more daunting parts of helping support OOo. However, it is not as difficult to use with a little practive and patience.

A user asked how to vote for an issue in IZ. Voting in IZ is a way for developers to rank issues and decide what is important to the OOo community. While it is not a mandate to the developers, it can be a helpful tool for them. Voting in IZ is fairly simple.

The key to voting for an issue is to make sure the system knows you are logged in. You can vote for any one issue twice, but you only get a total of five votes per component (i.e. Word, Calc, etc...)

  1. You must be registered with the website and be able to log in. If you are not registered, you can register here.
  2. Navigate to the issue you would like to vote on. There are many way to do this and I will not discuss them in detail here.
  3. Once you are at the issue, make sure you are logged on. You can tell if you are logged on or not by lookingin the upper right hand corner of the screen.

  4. When you click Login you will be sent back to My Pages. Press the back button and then refresh in your browser. If you don't press refresh, the OOo site may not think you are logged in.
  5. Once your browser has refreshed you should see a area where you can type you comments in the screen. right above that and to the right of the number of votes you should now see a link that says Vote for this issue. Click on it and you can vote!
