Creating a Watermark

A question was asked about how to add a watermark to the backgound of a Writer document. Several answers were giving. I have tried to combine the answers and give some step by step instrcution to accomplish this.

Note: This tutorial assumes you already have an image that is semi-transparent to serve as the watermark. If however you do not, please see this page to learn how to make a semi-transparent image.
Basically what you need to do is add the graphic to the background of the page. To do that follow these steps:

  1. In your Writer document select Format > Page from the menu bar.
  2. Click on the Background tab. The following will appear.

  3. Where it says As select Graphic from the drop down box.
  4. Click Browse.
  5. You can more accurately position it using the three options:
    • Position -- Allows you to specify precisely where the image will go.
    • Tile -- Tiles the image.
    • Area -- Stretches the image to fit the whole page.
  6. Click OK
